Several decades ago my husband and I were able to travel to China. The rich culture, the intricate art, the architectural design of the buildings, the colours, smells and sounds instantly enveloped us and it was love at first sight. One of the things that have just really stayed with me was the enchanted warm glow of all the lanterns at night. I knew that I wanted to have them as an element in this painting. The movie was also one that I love to watch with my granddaughters and show them that they can do anything and be true to one's heart.
