Princess and the Pea - Celtic

The story of the Princess and the Pea is sort of silly one but the imagery can be such a great one with all layers of bedding and pillows. I decided to create a series based loosely on this but make the princess sleeping soundly, the Pea is her pet and celebrate the vibrant lush textures, colours and elements of different countries.

I personally have very unruly curly hair so I couldn't help giggle when I was painting this princess as I can so relate what happens to the hairdo after sleeping.  Her sweet white sleeping lamb is a great contrast to the flaming red and wild curls.
